buoyant house
A vastu complaint design with a double-height volume at the center that acts as an anchor in a rather fixed organization. The relationships of various spaces inside the house are addressed keeping in mind spatial and visual connections. While the entire house stands out as a unified floating form marking this buoyant shift of lifestyle of its inhabitants a redefined “otla” connects the house with the street. The harsh sun from the street is mitigated by a custom-designed screen, which allows regulating the facade as required during the different times of the day. This also adds dynamism to the space inside, by creating an interesting play of light & shadow.
